Open Field Framework
OFF is the machinery behind worlds like this.
OFF is the browser runtime, renderer, simulation core, networking layer, and operations surface behind splanet.io. These sections show the pieces already visible in public: static planet viewing, cell-based simulation, distributed ownership, and live observability.
Rendering
OFF renders planets from reusable data packages. The homepage, the viewer, and the OFF pages can all open the same staged surface instead of relying on a one-off illustration.
Cell RulesSimulation
OFF treats the planet as local pieces. Each cell can run rules, exchange borders, and stay inspectable as the world gets larger.
Cell AtlasDistributed Ownership
The world is divided into cube-sphere cells with explicit ownership. The atlas exposes a public-safe view of which runtimes hold which parts of the planet right now.
Static LinkStatic Viewer
The simplest OFF demo is a planet that opens from static files: export the world, host the bundle, send the link.
Planet Runtime
Rendering
OFF renders planets from reusable data packages. The homepage, the viewer, and the OFF pages can all open the same staged surface instead of relying on a one-off illustration.
Terrain channels, cells, and overlays are shipped as data, not page artwork.
Hero, viewer, and deep-dive pages can point at the same staged bundle.
Cell Rules
Simulation
OFF treats the planet as local pieces. Each cell can run rules, exchange borders, and stay inspectable as the world gets larger.
Cells keep simulation small enough to reason about.
Fixed-step systems keep debugging and verification possible where the game needs them.
The splanet live page reads the running world for tick rate, cells, units, and queue state.
Cell Atlas
Distributed Ownership
The world is divided into cube-sphere cells with explicit ownership. The atlas exposes a public-safe view of which runtimes hold which parts of the planet right now.
Live atlas
Cell Atlas
This grid is built from the public Observatory snapshot for the production splanet.io world. It shows which runtime owns each cube-sphere cell at the public-safe level.
Updated --
Each cell has an owner the tools can inspect.
Work can move across cells while the product still presents one planet.
Snapshots hide endpoints and secrets while keeping health and topology legible.
Static Link
Static Viewer
The simplest OFF demo is a planet that opens from static files: export the world, host the bundle, send the link.
The viewer can be hosted as files and a manifest.
The same runtime can sit on a homepage, product page, devlog, or direct viewer URL.
Static, quasi-live, and live modes are converging on the same viewer contract.
